About Shine in Seoul

Who’s Behind Shine in Seoul?

Hi — I’m David Oh, CEO of a Seoul-based marketing company with roots deep in Korean culture.
I launched Shine in Seoul to give international travelers and K-culture
enthusiasts a clear, honest window into life in Korea — not the sanitized tourist-brochure
version, but the real city: its beauty rituals, its neighborhoods, its transit quirks, and the
small daily discoveries that make Seoul worth coming back to.

My team and I work with Korean brands, travel operators, and beauty labels every day, which
means we see firsthand what’s actually popular right now — what locals are buying at Olive Young,
which Klook experiences consistently get five-star reviews, and which neighborhoods are
genuinely worth your limited vacation hours.

What You’ll Find Here

  • K-Beauty guides — product deep-dives, ingredient explainers, and
honest comparisons of what you can buy at Olive Young vs. what to order online before
    you arrive.
  • Seoul travel planning — day-by-day itineraries, transport tips
(T-money, AREX, Intercity Bus), and neighborhood-by-neighborhood breakdowns.
  • Everyday Seoul life — SIM cards, banking, food markets, seasonal
events, and the practical things guidebooks gloss over.

A Note on Affiliate Links

Some posts on this site include affiliate links to products and services I genuinely
recommend — Olive Young, Klook tours, and Agoda hotels. If you make a purchase through
one of those links, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep
the blog running. I only link to things I would actually point a friend toward.
